New Sony HX200V

I just got my new Sony HX200V in the mail yesterday. Spent last night opening all the parts and I'm going out to try a little photo shoot with. After much research I decided on this and hope it meets my expectations. Anyone else out there shooting with this camera? I also have a Canon DSLR but got this for travel. As I have gotten older the weight has been getting to be an issue of my DSLR. My carry on luggage is fast approaching the weight limit.
Great info posted here.

After our friend got one of these and he had a chance to play around with it, my husband bought one. He absolutely loves it. He disliked the "hassle" of DSLRs and thinks this is just the best camera ever.

mommommom4 ,

I would appreciate it if your husband would tell me all he can about his Sony HX200V camera; all the pros and cons , please ,
especially if it is able to take good indoor gymnasium fast action basketball shots------ witout flash --- which is prohibited.
Thank you .

I asked him to write something up for you. He took it to our high school football game last night and got some really good shots. Here is his reply --------

"As far as the Sony HX200V goes, I really enjoy it. My wife has a DSLR and I used it, but I was looking for a camera that, in my mind, was more user-friendly. I want to take good pictures but I’m not interested in the science of “how” to make the camera take good pictures.

It is very easy to operate. It is set up so a beginner can make adjustments to the pictures or for the most experienced photographer, you can manually take pictures. On the beginner side, it will walk you through menus of what you would like to do, and then it will even provide suggestions to you. On the more experienced side, you can “dial in” your numbers of what you would like to do.

Probably the most amazing feature is the super zoom on this camera. We were able to take photos of the moon, and we could see more detail than using our telescope. Just amazing. Also, it has the ability to take panoramic pictures, both horizontally and vertically. Just hold the button down and “sweep” for your picture.

Just a super, super camera, and I’ve just scratched the surface of my time that I have been able to use it. There are so many other features that I have yet to explore."

mommommom4 and husband ,
Thank you both for all your efforts on my behalf re: personal opinions of the newly purchased Sony CyberShot HX200V.
Definitely sounds like your husband ( names unknown ) is just crazy about his new "super , super " camera and I wish him great results with it .

However , I was hoping for some personal experience results taking low-light , no flash indoor basketball shots with the HX200V camera. That's to come , I'm sure.

Your comments were truly appreciated and ,with a little more research, I'll be able to make a decision. Thanks again !!!
