Here are a few from last fall at one of my favorite spots in northern Michigan. "Old school" - 50mm, ISO 100, sunny 16, manual focus.

Very appealing scenes. I especially like the light and shadows of #2. When I click on the image, I get a requirement to log in via Yahoo. That doesn't happen with Chg_Canon's flickr pics. The reason I try to view on flickr is because the embedded images here on UHH are too large They fill my 13" Chromebook screen, and since the Chromebook sits in my lap, the photos are too close to view comfortably.

Oh my, that will not do. I guess you will need to get a new computer.

Thanks for letting me know that. Sorry for the inconvenience. I am experimenting. I want to use Flickr just for this purpose, not for whatever other reason people are using it. So with CHG_CANON's pics you click through to Flickr so you can see smaller versions.

Facebook, Twitter, Disqus, Flickr delenda est.

Or, here they are re-sampled to the same size as the thumbnails.

I don't like the way the UHH software renders the images, and I don't like uploading them here. At the same time I am not interested in the Flickr world for various reasons. Some one said to me here the other day "then why don't you just leave?" Oh, gee, I dunno, I guess I just haven't completely lost all faith in humanity quite yet.

Ditto!
They (the Flicker views) over-fill my laptop screen and I have to shrink the viewing window to see them correctly.
I'd rather view here than have to go to another site.
"Downloads" are usually rendered nicely, not so much the thumbnails.

Oh boy, the free advice flows so freely. btw, I participated on fredmiranda.com a couple of different times. On that site there is no thumbnail view. But the print is very tiny compared to UHH and most people ignored the suggestion to post no larger than 2000 pixels wide. So I was constantly zooming out (Chrome browser) to see the whole photo and then zooming in (larger) to read the text

The software here uses CSS - cascading style sheets - to size a hot-linked image (from Flickr for example) at a percentage of the users screen rather than a fixed pixel width (the percentage set being 100%.) So, a hot-linked image from Flickr should scale down to any screen size. That certainly is the case for me.

Download (not a Flicker link) here fills the viewing window nicely.
The Flicker hot-link image is larger than my viewing window on the laptop.
(My browser window is not set to full screen, but most of it. If I go to full screen with the browser, the image is not over-sized. So it must be looking at my display size, not the viewing window size.)

Here are a couple of screenshots to illustrate the automatic re-sizing to fit different screens that happens with hot-linked images.

Ah, thanks. Interesting. So many variables...the source for the image, the software here at UHH, the browser a person is using, their settings...
