go on line. you can get snap swivels up to 400 pound test. those giant fish put more strain on the swivels than a camera ever would.
I worried about that for a little while then decided to just let them twist. No fraying or other concerning issues so far after a year and a half with that strap (which I love, BTW). If I do eventually start to see some wear I'll just buy some new peak design connectors.

If you get the cheap small freshwater kiddie stuff they might be rated for 5lbs, maaaybe 10.
Get the #10 stainless saltwater jobbies- many rated for 200#+. Each.
Shrink tubing might protect your camera. I recall little keyhole leather fob thingies on me old MFs.
