I've long been intrigued by wonderful golden hour photos that I've seen of Mono Lake/Tufa, but turned off by the reports of biting flies and the powerful odor. Are those reports (Flies and Odor) true? (My wilingness to suffer for my art has limits)

We watched the Forest Service fight a hill side fire with helicopter water drop. It was a brine shrimp

Never really experienced this and have been many times. There can be a little odd odor, but it has never been powerful when I have been there. Never seen the biting flies. Maybe I have just been lucky.

Coming down the grade to the north of the Mono Lake, heading south on 395, the full moon was rising . What a beautiful sight. No camera to capture the view.
