Go to the Canon USA web site: Under “Features” EF-S will work fine. The camera automatically crops the sensor so the lenses work as designed. In my opinion a great feature for photogs with both EF & EF-S and those moving up to full frame. And so what if they don’t fill the sensor. Oh, I guess we are suppose to have a bunch of money to throw at lenses and I am being a bit snarky! I have both EF-S and EF lenses. Just waiting for all the dust to settle before I move up to full frame.

John - both the Canon EOS R and the newer EOS RP (a smaller FF MILC) require the use of adapters in order to be able to use EOS glass (both EF and EF-S, both Canon and 3rd Party) … I suspect it is these adapters which trigger the cameras to reformat the image, where necessary.
