HAS a-mount sounded its death knells, or - is there more to come from Sony?

We have, still - the a77 II, the FF a99 II, and the mid-range APS-C - the a68. One for enthusiasts, one for Pros, and one more for beginners - I guess … Do we need another? … Or, has Sony covered all the bases? … Do you think they're wrapping up a-mount, or - SLTs in general? … They're making a lot of money from all the FF MILCs, aren't they? … Even, a bit on the 6000 series. So why bother with these pesky a-mount SLTs?
Will it now be E-Mount, forever, for Sony? … Or, do they still have some a-mount tricks up their sleeve?

The very first Sony A-mount camera I saw on display, was at Sears Department Store, some 10 years ago. It was the model a230. It had 10 megapixels, and was called a DSLR back then. Sony discontinued the DSLR, and came out later with the Translucent mirror, DSLTs. I don't recall the first one? As long as Sony continues to make new upgraded A-mount cameras, such as the upcoming a77iii, and the a99 full frame series. The A-mount lenses will still be made. But, the E-mount is going full steam ahead, with Sony's a6000 series mirrorless, crop sensors. And a7 series full frame, and the newest a9 full frame. Sigma has now come out with some new, very good E-mount lenses for Sony mirrorless cameras. Competing now with Sony. The future is E-mount. IMO.

Yes, that's true. The first SLT was the a33 - introduced in 2010. That same year, they also introduced the a55v - which had a built-in GPS. Only the a65v, a77v and a99v have followed suit, with GPS built-in, too. Prior to the SLT series - Sony ONLY made DSLRs - which have all since been discontinued, Mas. There's a full list of all Sony ILCs following. So you do believe there's an upcoming a77 III, do you? … I gave up!

In my opinion that by now Sony realized that SLT is a bad idea.

I couldn't possibly disagree with you more, Bebu …

Three of my dozen DSLRs are SLTs - and I consider them ALL the absolute treasure of the lot!!!

Bad idea??? ... Why do you feel that way, Bebu?

Do you have one? ... Thought you were a Nikon Df user ....

If you've NEVER experienced what an SLT can do for you - you haven't lived!!!!

Wow! you have a dozen DSLRs? I am impressed.

I only have 2 main cameras and one bridge. I must not be as good a photographer as you . . .

Oh, I doubt that, Gene … care to go on a one-on-one expedition?

Sure, Gene - they've all been listed in my signature for the past year-and-a-half - one bridge, there, too.

But, I also have ten other bridges, I haven't listed, as there was no more room to do so.

"Two MAIN cameras" - huh? .... Hmmmm!!!! ... I say - Hmmmmmm!!!!

I wouldn't be caught dead buying or using one of the SLT. I much rather have an A900.
