How do you know that people don't bat an eye regarding a******ns. In some cases it's justified but k*****g an animal that is near extinction, isn't.

Are you sure this animal was not past his prime and not breeding material and added nothing to the herd? In this case sacrificing one non-breeding animal could put thousands of dollar into conservation for the rest of the herd.
