My wife and I have had some success showing our photos in various shows around Southern California. We would now like to privately publish a book of some of the photos. The printing would only be about a dozen copies for family and friends.
I am seeking the names of on-line book publishers who can accommodate us. We need a quality publisher who can print and bind using quality media.
Can anyone suggest such a publisher?

Shutterfly may not do as many pages as you might like, but if you do the hard bound option they produce a beautiful book.
I have several books and even one selling on Amazon. For my money - I like the quality of

We have had good success with Blurb having done over a dozen photo books. Price might seem high initially but they always seem to offer some sort of discount. We do mainly scientific images documenting species. It’s mostly closeup, macro, and occasionaly, micro work.

I have had good experience with Blurb. I've had several books printed there, as single copies, for gifts.
Resulting in "oohs" and "aahs" from the recipients.
The nice part being, that others who wanted a copy of the book, could go to the website and order (and pay for) their own.
http://www.blurb.com/Right now there is a 35% discount with first order.
You can use their software to organize your book, or make full-bleed pages and use those for the book.

If you use Adobe LR/PS Classic it has the Book module for doing your own book. It interfaces to Blurb templates and off to them for printing. I just finished creating my first two table books. There is a learning curve but lots of videos. I like the quality.
My suggestion is to decide which company you want to order from and join their site to find out about sales, build your book then watch for a sale. Often sales are only a few days and you end up rushing to make your book. Spend your time preparing then wait for the sale so you have time to learn their system. Less stressful.
I have learned from experience and bought a coupon, didn't like the system but had to keep going and have done the rush thing.
I have used Shutterfly and like the quality.
Shutterfly is good. Adoramapix is best in my opinion, but Adoramapix is also more expensive. As mentioned, get on their mailing lists as they constantly run promotions. You can start working on a book any time, but don't put it in your cart until a discount promo comes up. Some are as short as a single day.
I have done books with Costco, Shutterfly, My Publishers(now Shutterfly) and Blurb. All are good resources. I am currently working on a book using Mpix because they still offer an 8.5" x 11" size. It seems the other companies have moved to an 8" x 11" size. The small .5" difference seems to make a significant difference in the layout of the images...at least IMHO.
One other difference I have found is that if you order the fly leaf or book cover(sorry, I forgetting the right term) Blurb enables you to add text on the inside of the leaf (like a brief out of a novel) and also on the inside of the back cover (like About the Author in a novel) which makes the finished product look very professional.
Good luck on putting your book together. it is a lot of fun
I can't say enough good about Blurb. Their platform is easy to use, and they produce gorgeous images. I insert a lot of full-page images, and every one I've ever used has come out looking as if it were printed on the highest quality printer.
