Black Dragon Canyon

Black Dragon Canyon is one of a dozen canyons that intersect the San Rafael Reef. Each of the canyons that intersect 'The Reef' allow passage between the lower lands of the San Rafael Desert and the highlands of the San Rafael Swell, and each has been utilized for thousands of years as routes of travel. Men stood on the Moon before I-70 was completed through Spotted Wolf Canyon, a mile or so south of where the pictograph called the 'Black Dragon' --which is, if one looks closely, not a dragon at all-- was painted some 3000 years ago.

Good stuff, Cany. My brother and I have had prolonged arguments about the San Rafael Black Dragon. He contends that it is proof positive that humans and dinosaurs lived contemporaneously. I'm going to bookmark your post and show it to him. Can't wait for the reaction. Thanks for the post.

The contention that the Black Dragon offers "proof" that humans & dinos rubbed elbows is..... well.... if that's what your brother wants to believe, he's welcome to believe whatever he wants.

And therein lies the problem. He SO MUCH wants to believe that. You have to take that position, I'm his brother, I DON"T. On the other hand, I have 9 brothers so we can always come up with something to argue about.
