1996 I was working the flight line at the Reno Air Races. The photo of me and the Raven is from a 35mm color negative so it's some what grainy. The Team Raven is from a printed card. The Raven was flown by Wayne Handley and was the first civilian aerobatic aircraft to achieve a true positive thrust to weight ratio, meaning that Wayen could literally pull into a pure vertical climb after only a 250' takeoff roll. Sady it crashed the same year when Wayne was hovering on the prop just above the ground.
"hovering on the prop"
Is this where the plane is vertical and is more or less just hanging from the prop ? I have seen RC planes do this but never knew if it was possible on a full size plane.
