Thanks again. I really appreciate this forum in that I'm not just getting bashed and people are accepting of ideas.
There is a story behind every shot, not just the story in it. This day was "make the most of what I had". And be patient for ideas to come. Change it up with the shutter speed and perspective. Otherwise with the lack of clouds and low tide, I don't think it would have been interesting beyond a basic color gradient.
Slow without a tripod may or may not be a good idea, but I've gotten a few really good ones like #3. I'm using VR on a 16-35 and bracing the camera as best I can. I get a lot of throw away shots out of focus, but I've gotten sharp shots up to 1 second. Not every wave looks neat, so it takes patients. I wanted the water flowing a different angle, but it still worked in its own way. For #2, I noticed a nice color in the sand when the wave went out. I was waiting for the waves to repeat and that is when I decided to go 2 seconds and pan it since the last light looked neat to me.
I'm just babbling.
Thanks again for the supportive comments. When your plan doesn't come together, it is ok to wait for another to unfold.
love all 3 but for me #3 stands above
