There are many who still can remember what feeling this brings about.
Our class did a field trip to one early 60's. Those biscuits they had in such plentiful supply were inedible .

The high school I went to survived the Chicago Fire by winds turning when the fire was a block away. When in the 1950s, the Civil Defense approached the building and saw that it had outside brick walls being four feet deep, they just slapped the signs on both sides of the entry doors. It was a going joke that the building would be the only one standing in the event of a nuclear event. I still believe that it can do that even now.

Built in 1869. Chicago Fire was in 1871.
