60 foot waves coming to Hawaiian Islands

I read about the huge swell and accompanying wind heading towards the islands today. I wish I could be there for that event! Waves that size would be worth the ride down the mud road to Jaws for sure! Of course that drive was more fun than the E-ticket rides at any amusement park. All praise 4wheelin’!
These wave photos are only in the 30’ range, not the monsters that are on the way this week. One of the things I like in some of these shots is the rainbow effect in the mist and foam from the waves. The last photo has a good view of it. All shot from the cliff above the bay when I was there in December.

That photo looks like the ones I took when we were on the North Shore of Oahu watching the Billabong PipeMasters Tournament. It was just my luck that the day we left North Shore, the northwest swell started coming in at 30-50’.

I hope there are some UHHers to record the fun at Ho'okipa or Pipeline...if anyone has the fortitude to give those waves a ride.

That would be one of the reasons Kelly Slater bought a house somewhere on the north shore. Just so he could ride the big boys.
