I think you'd better re read my comment. I actually said that a "badly executed photo is, of course, quite acceptable".

I read your comment just fine. You are differentiating between "a badly executed photo" and "pure crap". I'm asking who will judge the difference in order to ban the "pure crap" photos and not the "badly executed photos".

Simple, the Administrator of this private forum. It has always been that way.

We have the "Attic" why not have a sub-group to this section. I suggest "Gutter". Forget artistic merit, prudishness etc... there is a clear line between credibility and that which is straying towards the perverse. And that kind of input surely denigrates this site. Believe me, I am no seeker of moral high ground. I have worked in fashion/advertising photography for years and seen a lot. I have had work published in Playboy (even offered a job there) but come on guys, we need some degree of distinction between a badly executed photo (which is, of course, quite acceptable) and plain crap!

I agree Paul, well said.

That may well be so, of course, you could always ask.

I have asked some questions in relation to another thread in another section...no answers. I have posted more than once in this section I'd love some "guidelines" as to what is appropriate and allowed, and what is not, but no answers.

Apologies for any misconstrument (I know there's no such word). In answer to the question "who will judge..." I think it is really a matter of good old common sense. I would like to think (but doubt) most of us could differentiate between the two.

Shame on those that provided snide comments and other than constructive criticism. We all start at the beginning in photography and those that are seasoned should be mentors, not mud slingers.

True, there are many A..hole snotty comments by jerks on this site in this section.

I agree, but the Administrator of this site is not prone to answer many questions. Sorry, that's the way it is.

Did anyone ever follow the link in her signature?
She had pictures of her having sex with her husband that she encouraged visitors to download, print and post everywhere.
She called it feminist porn as I remember.

At least I can sleep soundly at night, knowing that I didn't violate someone's desire for privacy when I posted that shot

It is always about everything in the photo: background/setting, composition, lighting, exposure, pose, and even the model. When it all comes together we applaud the result. When some aspect is lacking we make suggestions for improvements. But NO part of the image is off limits.

Furthermore, you don’t have to be a “participant” to be a critic; I doubt that every sports commentator was a pro quarterback.

It is safer and you have a longer career if you are the ringmaster and not the trapeze artist
