I also use a RAVPower WD-03. I use a pair of 256 GB memory sticks and off-load my SD cards nightly, with a redundant backup. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if my images resided on a single medium. The backup is simple and reliable - and you can check the folder contents of your memory sticks using a phone or tablet.

Gene, I use a WD-03 also. Only negatives are that I don’t find it intuitive and it won’t back up raw files. Also, I’d like to be able backup from sd directly to a thumb drive via the WD-03. Instead it seems I have to backup to the phone or iPad, then from the phone/iPad to the thumb drive. I have a call into RAVPower but find they rarely know much more than I.

I am not sure of the backup process you employed, but for a trip to Europe last year, I used the WD My Wireless pro and the RavPower resulting in 3 separate HDD backups of my shooting... all raw files. The WD onto it's own internal HD and the RavPower onto 2 different portable HD's connected via a USB cable. No wireless control, all manual by pressing a simple download button. I tested the wireless software, but found it easier and more direct to do it with a cable onto portable drives.

Thanks. I think it’s time for a call to RAVPower. I connect my phone or iPad to the WD-03 after starting it and inserting the sd card and attaching either a thumbdrive or portable hd. Thru the app, I see the sd card but not the hd. I have to disconnect the thumbdrive and start over without the it or the hd connected, transfer the files to the phone or iPad, then remove the sd card, attach the thumbdrive or hd, then transfer. When copying off the sd card, I’ll get a msg saying that raw files can’t be transferred. I had a WD-01 and had the same issue.
