The eyes each attach directly to a dedicated brain lobe responsible for interpretation/integration of optical sensory data. The minute scale of such highly specialized organs is what blows my mind. Apart from a cns/pns, that fly has all the other complicated systems we possess including musculature, skeletal, digestive, excretory, and reproductive system. All in a mini-package.
