I took this photograph from the mountain looking the bay at St.Kilda, no filters was used in the shot that's what the sea looks like a round the Islands. With a large bird life there ( about 250,000 or there abouts) Gannets ,puffins and other birds that live on that rock other wildlife is the St.Kilda mouse ( no tail ) . Most visitors where from the National Trust for Scotland , repairing the old village buildings. I was lucky with the weather on my visit to Kilda .

I'd love to visit St. Kilda on one of our Scotland trips! We used to have an old documentary movie filmed in the late '30's (?) which showed the removal of the remaining islanders when it became apparent that living there was no longer sustainable. I don't remember the name of the film but I'd love to find it again - it left indelible images in my mind, except for the title, of course!

I believe your shot does a good job of capturing what the island's like. It goes from mountain to sea with very little in between.

I just an very worthwhile hour looking at old photos posted on the internet of St. Kilda, a remote group of islands northwest of Scotland that was abandoned/evacuated by it's last 36 inhabitants in 1930, after some human occupation for as much as two millenia. I had not heard of this place before. I was impressed, to say the least, at how these people managed to survive.

I've attached a few of the photos I looked at....the third one is really strong.

I've walked down that street on Kilda , it's a strange feeling you get when you look at the old houses .I spent 6 months on that Island . If you want peace & quiet go to Kilda !
