I always have the manual on me, I do not need the camera do show it to me, - its in my head (most in's and out's go through it)!
I like the 'out of the box' ideas possibilities, but I also question the cost/benefit trade-off. If the ability to read data from an SD in a second card slot added $50+ to the cost of a body, I think I would not be in favor. Particularly since some of the ideas mentioned can be done easily today on the smart phones that many photographers already have.

I put the hard copy (manual) of the camera I am using inside my camera bag so if needed it is handy. I use a flip phone and use it just for phone calls. I would have no idea how or even if I could put camera manuals on my phone in the first place.
I have several cameras for photos, a couple of T.V.'s around the house for entertainment, a computer for emails (actually, my wife and I each have our own computers. You can't imagine how much domestic harmony that has provided unless you've tried it. Also we each have Kindles for reading and she plays games on her iPad. In short, I have devices that do one thing but do it well. I have no need for a phone that does everything, although I am sometimes amazed at the quality of the photos of our grandchildren by their parents with cell phones.
In short, we use our cell phones only as a phone when away from home. At home we use the drop free, static free land line. As a funny aside, each of our phones is served by a second tier provider which provides 200 minutes of service for 35 days for about $15. They allow carry over of unused minutes but you must still pay the monthly fee to retain active service. I now have over 6000 (that's six thousand) available minutes on my easily pocketable flip phone.

Excellent idea!

I would rather have a small tuner plugged in so I could get the news and weather. Just joking however, the idea that adding readers etc. for the small screen seems a bit much. Many don't even want video on the camera!
Totally agree, how many shots have you had spoiled by a cell phone on a six foot pole.
Outside the box:
How about voice activated camera controls or voice activated camera manuals on your mobil phone that work similar to Siri and Alexa.

They already using the SD card as input every time you view mages on the screen. Personally, when I need to use the manual I want it to be separate from the camera so that I can make adjustments while I use it. I carry the paper manual in my camera bag with a copy of the digital version on a hard drive that I connect to my laptop.

Not such a novel concept, actually. Minolta made a (maybe more) Maxxum film camera that used a set of "program" cards for different shooting situations. They lived in a pouch on the camera strap. The idea went by the wayside as more features were built in to the body.
Bad idea. our cameras, and our phones and TV's and cars and refrigerators and back scratchers are already overloaded with extra features that are useful to about 2% or the purchasers, and slow down 100% of the operations.
I've got a phone, and what do I use it for? Phone calls, dummy. and when I take photos what do I use? Right, a camera, even have on that lives in my car. I respect a device designed to do something that does it WELL! Not one that does a dozen things half-assed. But if you are looking at your photos on nothing more that a small screen on a phone, the quality isn't you main goal.

Interesting thoughts but for me I’m going to use my second slot as intended an image backup in case one card fails!
I look for the manual to my camera and flashes on the Internet. When I find it, I download it to my notes folder. Then, if I need to check something, I head over to the folder on my iPhone. I save space and still have the accessibility to look something up.
I have both camera manuals on my 10" tablet. That is about the smallest I would be interested in trying to read. Both cameras also have internal "instructions" on a line that scrolls on option pages.
I don't recommend putting the camera manual in the camera bag. If some crook steals the bag, you have made it easier for the bum how to use and play with your "baby".

My manuals are on my cell phone. Would you tell want to use up your camera battery reading a book?
