Hope some one can help, I have a macbook pro running 10.11.6 connected to a Canon printer has been working fine. Today started to print only a couple of pages of every document and came up with error computer not communicating with printer. Tried all the cables etc is working fine on my i mac. Deleted printer and reloaded from Canon site. Any ideas appreciated.

The current version of Mac OSX is 10.14.xx

What OS level is the iMac?

You've probably already tried this but when a computer is acting in a way that makes no sense, a good starting point is to power it down completely, wait five more more minutes and then re-start with the shutdown having been told NOT to re-start any applications.

You imply that the cables work OK on the iMac for the same printer and the same document. Correct?

The i Mac is on the same OSX version 10.11.6 just switching the usb cable to printer. We have two other Macbook pros going to the same printer working fine. We didn't upgrade to 10.14 as we had so many problems with scanners and software when we changed from El Capitan to High Sierra we thought we would wait awhile.
