Brief report: user experience with Whitewall (German print company)

I am considering using them for a very large (48 x 72) portrait orientation print for my temporary landlord in Florida. I ordered a 12 x 18 of the same image to see what the particular paper & surface looked like.

They packaged it well and it should have been ok but it was flat. UPS or whomever abused it and it arrived with a noticeable crease. I sent iPhone snapshots to their customer service and they immediately said they would re-do it and use a better package method. They even used a faster shipping method (very fast). I will receive it tomorrow according to UPS and I suspect Whitewall will use my suggestion and put it in cylinder.

If anything changes I will update this thread.

The 12x18 print itself is quite nice, btw. I do think it's somewhat better than Snapfish or Adorama although both of them make very nice prints. The issue for me was to find a place with a good reputation that can do the required size.

Earlier, I had a telephone conversation with them when I first considered using them. The CS rep spoke fluent English and knew his stuff; they are very helpful.

I became aware of them by looking on this forum and on the internet generally. I would recommend them.

Update: the second print arrived with creases in two directions and the outer package did not seem to have been mishandled. I advised them that I am done trying.

While they are very responsive and the print looks good, there is a problem with how they handle it, I guess.

Based on this I would no longer recommend them.

Update 2:

I let them know about the creases in the second try. This is the response I got. I'm just trying to be fair.

I am so sorry to hear that even the replacement arrived damaged. I had arranged for the replacement to be packed in a tube, but it seems that this hasn´t been done. I could offer to have yet another replacement sent out to you if you wish. Also, I have already created a voucher code for the full order value and put it into your account with us.
