Exhibition: The Race to Promontory: The Transcontinental Railroad (now in Salt Lake City)

May 10, 2019 is the 150th anniversary of the pounding of the golden spike at Promintory, Utah--
one of the most photographed events in history.

Since there is no UHH forum for museum shows (perhaps there should be?), and since this is of
general interest (and non-profit), here is an announcement (from the Manchester Guardian):

"In a new travelling exhibition, the significance of the transcontinental railroad, finished in 1869,
will be celebrated in a series of images capturing its arduous construction through to its triumphant
completion. The Race to Promontory: The Transcontinental Railroad and the American West
exhibition is now at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts in Salt Lake City ."

Can't post a link, but search for "Guardian Transcontinental Railroad at 150" for a nice selection
of scanned photos.

The exhibition at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts in Salt Lake City runs from 1 February to 26 May 2019.
It was organised by the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska, and the Union Pacific Railroad Museum
in Council Bluffs, Iowa (both well worth a visit).
