I've been away from photography for most of 2018, involved with a non photography related project. But now I'm getting back into my favorite pastime. Hope you enjoy the images.
With all the rains in SoCal, we heard that the flowers were beginning to bloom out in Joshua Tree. We found that the flowers were only blooming at the lower altitudes, primarily around the Cottonwood entrance (south entrance). It rained there only two days before, but it was completely dry when we finally got there. But the flowers were starting to present a nice show. If we keep getting rain, then there's talk that we may see another super bloom in the desert, similar to 2 years ago. Wouldn't that be nice.

Thanks for the beautiful set and for the reminder that wildflower season is nearly upon us. I haven't been out to Joshua Tree for a few years but it sounds like it's a place I should plan on going soon.

What's wrong with not?
The final image is what I'm interested in seeing.

I don't know about the statement "totally overcooked" or what "SOOC" refers to, but to me these images correctly show the phenomenal color when the desert blooms. Although I have not been to Joshua, we were in Borrego Springs during the super-bloom two years ago. It was absolutely crazy with color with the level of saturation shown in these photos. Joshua, Borrego, and Death Valley should be pretty nice this spring. Just watch out for the crowds and Catepillars.
In Borrego Springs when this happened, the restaurants ran out of food, the gas stations had no gas, and the shelves in the grocery store were empty. Go prepared.
Fine set of photos! I am going to be there at the end of the month, hope there will still be some blooming going on.
The beauty of the desert. Thanks for sharing your great set of images.
