Hello cdayton,
Nice car.
Today is my last day at UHH.
Too much negativity and snarkiness.
Good thing that I didn't mention that the Magic Eraser is great for removing the film from interior car windows. Who knows where that might have led.
Bye.

I gently rinse my olympus with low pressure water...I just need to make sure it has a weather sealed lens on it. And yes, I’m not joking.

Thanks, I’ve been waiting for such a tip for my Nikon N80. It’s a bear to get squeaky clean.

The sponge is actually more like an ultra-fine sand paper. Had a friend use it to clean a few spots off his car. Next wash you could see where it basically sanded the clear coat surface. So camera body, sure if it were really bad, but never on glass or screen.

Yes don’t let the negative folks discourage you. I love the magic eraser too. We appreciate you sharing this idea. And I personally would like to see rules adopted that would limit unnecessary snarky remarks. Offenders should be removed from the group. Period. I get so tired of reading all the rude comments all the time.

Those upset by jokes and sarcasm on the UHH should remember what do you really expect for Opinions and Anecdotal Information that is not always factual evidence. Different members and different photographers have different experiences, expectations, knowledge bases, educational and work backgrounds, and personalities. ...Different strokes for different folks...

Peace, please

P.S. durafoam is a brand of melamine foam.

I use it to clean stubborn stains on my dirt bikes, yes, it's abrasive and will take the gloss off just about anything.

I have been around cameras for many years buying, using and selling them. I have tried every trick in the book to get the old ones clean but, somehow, they never really looked "clean and new".
The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is the most incredible thing I have ever found. You just dampen it, give it a couple of swipes over the areas you want to clean and those areas literally become like new. Of course, care must be taken to not get any liquids where they don't belong. I follow up with a clean microfiber cloth. This product leaves no residue I can detect. Works especially well on camera grips and lens rings that have turned whitish. I have used it on camera bodies and lenses. I would be hesitant to use it on genuine leather, but it works so well on synthetic surfaces you won't believe it.

Good luck, but just don't get any of the liquid on yourself.

If you haven't tried it, please feel free to not comment on its effectiveness. Just makes you look foolish. All things are abrasive - from microfiber cloths to toothbrushes. I am telling you from experience that it is 100% effective and there is no downside. If you are happy pushing the dirt and grime around with alcohol, lens cleaner, microfiber cloths, toothbrushes, etc, have at it.
It is disappointing to have received such snarky and sarcastic comments regarding my post. Again I see the ugly underbelly of the Internet.
I'll not darken your doorstep again, if you follow me.
Bye.
If you haven't tried it, please feel free to not c... (show quote)

"with some degree of snark"

Synonym: Snarkish

Antonym: Snarkless.

Example: This reply.

So, you're saying you don't know either but continue to use the word. Brilliant!
