Hello. Following your advises (3 weeks ago) now I have a Sony XR100 and HX80 and bought 2 SanDisk Extreme Pro. Ready to go to Greece? Not yet. Neither of the 2 SD cards (Extreme Pro) works. I have an Extreme Plus, it works. Wanted to have the best. Could it be two new cards (bought on E-bay) be defective, or these Sonys doesn't like Extreme Pro? Any thoughts? Thanks.

What size (capacity in GB) are the various cards? The Sony RX100 and HX80 specs say that SDXC cards are supported, so any size up to 2 TB should work. Have you tried formatting the card in the camera? If it still won’t work, purchase some Sandisk extreme pro cards form a reputable dealer such as B&H or locally from Best Buy or a reputable camera store.
Ebay is notorious for counterfeit SD cards. It is possible you got a hold of knock-offs. If that is the case some devices are going to have problems with them. Buy your SD cards from Best Buy or another reputable seller. Ebay is great for some things. SD cards are not one of those things.

Request a refund for a defective product. Reorder from B&H Photo.
When you ask for a refund, also ask the seller to send you a shipping label.
Thanks; 32GBs. The camera asked me to format at the first try, and I did.
Thanks, I will do just that.
I won't buy SD cards from eBay. As mentioned earlier thread, many are counterfeit. You're also taking a chance on buying cell phone batteries from eBay. I got lucky and actually received an OEM battery that matched the part# of the original battery. It came from China. I couldn't find one in the USA. Not even from my cell phone carrier. They wanted to sell me a brand new phone. SD cards are very inexpensive. You can actually get a 128gb SanDisk SD card at a low price from B&H. If your camera has a maximum 64gb in memory capacity. It would be unwise to purchase a 128gb SD card. You can get good memory card bargains from Walgreen's when on Sale. In the photo department.

I am not saying that Amazon sells counterfeit themselves, but many reviews complain about them, depends on the vendor.
I have read enough about cards and batteries that I only purchase those items on B&H. This is not to say Adorama should not be considered a reliable source as well.
Could it be Gray Market cards?

I got burned by a counterfeit Samsung card from Amazon. Purchased the card as recommended by Rove (dash cam), camera would not accept/format the card. Emailed Rove (absolutely superb customer service) and they sent me to a utube site describing the knock off cards. Purchased another Samsung at Best Buy on sale cheaper than Amazon, no problems.

Go to the local drugstore or anyplace that sells name brand quality, new in the package memory cards and buy a 8, 16 or 32 GB for $10 to 20 and try it out. If it works you have a real good idea who the culprit is, if it doesn't then I'd be real concerned about the camera. When I sell a camera, I always include a 8GB card (they are so cheap, even the 16 and 32 GB cards are such a bargain now) with photos on it I took with the camera, as an assurance to me and the buyer that all is/was well when shipped.

I use nothing but Extreme Pro's. NEVER had an issue.
