In search of “Free stock photos”, is there really such a thing? I’d like to post some absolute stock photos to Facebook or instagram with a little photoshop manipulation without the fear of infringing on a photo I may be sued for, is there any such thing Hogs? Every free stock photo I’ve discovered on the internet is not really free at all. Just wondering, please no negative slams.

if they're your pictures, no problem - if you DL'd then PS'd then there's a potential problem - many images on those sites are actually copyrighted with no real way of knowing. there's also a difference between free and royalty free - the latter gives use, once you've paid, to use the images without paying further royalties

There are two websites Pixabay and Librestock which are websites with free photos with no attribution require and free for commercial use. I have used these sites for posting on fb. Good luck... Joel

Why not post your own work with no fear of ownership claims?

I went on these websites and it takes you to shutterstock for $49 a month, thanks but I'm trying to avoid a cost.

If you have PS CC, than you have access to a lot of free stock photos through the cloud, if not you'll have to search the net!

Almost always, I'm using https://pixabay.com/en and https://www.pexels.com due to high-resolution and high-contrast photos and happy with them. You can also try an organized list of 100+ websites with Royalty-Free Images that can be used for personal and commercial projects. https://www.quora.com/Which-is-the-best-free-stock-photo-website/answer/Md-Bakhtiar-Uddin-1

...

royalty free DOES NOT mean free to use - several of the sites on that list require payment. royalty free applies to the license AFTER you pay for it

and 'free' sites may have pirated images, so not a great idea unless from a trusted source

Also, royalty-free may allow use without cost, but requires attribution as a condition of use.

not quite -- royalty free usually requires a license fee (otherwise it would just be 'free') and licenses vary and many request but dont require credits

Yes, but my point is - don't assume you have carte blanche rights to images - read the terms and conditions.

Most of them are appropriate and can play an important role in fulfilling our needs. Specially the generic free stock photo sites.. they don't need to ask permission from or provide credit to the image author.

So, we can be fearless to use them. :)

Best one yet, pexels is a good free site, if fact they encourage you to use their pictures, thank you Sujohcps.
