Sailing past on the way from Orkney to the mainland.
The clouds. The cliffs. WOW!

What a great capture of the phenomenon of cloud settling as fog, and the fog “dripping off the edges”.
Wonderful image!
Spent some time on the Orkneys and had numerous trips right by those Cliff o’Hoy from Stromness to and fro’ Thurso.
Thanks for posting.

Sue, this is a fantastic landscape that deserves a wall.

Beautiful photo, Sue. You need to download to see the full beauty of the hanging clouds, love the hint of magenta streaks.
That is an interesting shot.
Im in suspense. I wonder if it dissipate as it descended towards the water, or held its volume and blocked the view of the cliffs?
Thanks, everyone, for your very kind comments. We've made the trip past Hoy twice and each time there were low-lying clouds - the view was spectacular and it took 10-15 minutes to pass by the island. We are in the very early stages of planning for a return trip in September and I'm hoping to be able to take the ferry over to Hoy and wander around.
Great shot in the download! Thanks for sharing.

Great shot! Love the way the clouds are tumbling over the edge of the cliff. Or, are they being pushed up over the cliff by the wind?
