There have been several others, but this the last. Taken while actually trying to photograph a dozing owl, this fox appeared to be checking me out. I have since found that human neighbors in the area have been
attempting to feed her and other foxes that live in the wood. So, this one was probably looking for a handout. I am definitely going to be talking to the neighbors about curtailing that feeding routine.

Why don't you find out first is that perhaps the feeding is needed ?

I am uncertain I understand your point. But if you are concerned that the fox may not have sufficient food in the area, let me state that this photo was taken about 20 yards from my home - which borders the Patapsco State Park. That Park is the largest State Park system in Maryland. At some point during the week, anywhere from 12 to 18 deer roam my "back yard", as I call the Park. There are an abundance of raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, possums, a wide variety of birds and other wildlife in the area. There are ample streams and vegetation that appear to support the chain of life, as well. I do not believe the foxes would seem to have a desperate need for human intervention.

Beautiful image. Bird feeders are one thing; feeding foxes and other predators is not very smart.

Nicely done. I love foxes. Been unsuccessful the last 4 years in finding a birth den. The kits are great fun to watch and photograph.
