Info on Avanquest Software

Avanquest Software has its headquarters in Saint Ives, Cambridgeshire England.
The company has offered to me two types of software; for improving the efficiency of my computer software and for improving the sharpness of digital images.
Does any one have experience with these software suites. Can any one vouch for the reliabilty of this company?
I'm asking because I have just had a very bad experience with another company which hacked into a message which I directed to Microsoft while I was starting to install some of their software. This bogus company scanned my software, warned that there were errors in many of the programs, offered to clean them up and tried to charge $400 for the service. I gave them my credit card number to cover the charge. Fortuntely, my credit card company recognised their name and blocked the payment. They immediately phoned to advise me that the company is corrupt and that they have canceled my credit card. Now, I''m worried about any other companies which are offering similar services.

Had the same experience with PcClean. After loading their software (and it corrupted my computer) they wanted to charge me $200 to remove it and fix my computer. I ended up re-installing the operating system and software I had on it.

Never heard of this company before but looked them up on cnet.com (whose reviews I do trust) and found nothing good to be said about the company. Poor customer service, dropping support for software, etc. May want to steer clear.

I am just starting to learn how to use Photo Shop Elements and have found that I can sharpen images with part of that software. So, it's just as well that I didn't send Avanquest another $90 for their software. I bought the whole suite of Elements programs for less than that. Another case of "buyer beware".
