The ice jam making news on the Kankakee River in Illinois where Interstate 55 crosses the river near Wilmington, IL (Exit 241). First shots are from just upstream of I-55; the last three shots are downstream of I-55. Shooting the ice jam was like shooting wave action on the ocean, no wide angle lens wide enough to give you the real perspective. We are talking miles of ice both upstream and downstream; shoreline to shoreline. You can cross the river on big slabs of ice if you dare. The I-55 bridge across the river is visible in shots one and two for some perspective.
I don't see many shadows there...especially groundhog shadows. Nice set. Thanks for sharing. jack
Nice shots, and please don't try hopping on the ice. Many of our rivers in Michigan have ice jams that may cause serious flooding when warmer weather rhis next week causes not only breakups but also snowmelt flowing into the rivers. Hope Kankakee area fares well
