By "crop factor" with the Z6, I took it to mean when he set the "image area" to "APS-C" on the Z6, the photos were still much better than photos taken with the D7200.

Perhaps someone should ask him instead of speculating if they’re that interested

I think if he is following his own thread he knows the question is out there.

I upgraded from my Nikon D7200 to a full frame Z6. I mostly shoot landscape, starscape, and travel photography but occasionally I put on my Nikkor 300mm f4 and shoot birds and wildlife. I figured I would hang onto the D7200 for wildlife and birds, but when I tried the 300mm on the Z6, it focussed better and faster, and tracked better, than it ever did on the D7200 and even with the crop factor, the Z6 took much better photos than the D7200. The 300mm does not have VR, but with the IBIS (in body image stabilization) in the Z6 I get stabilization even though it is not native to the lens.

After a month of use, the Z6 is performing far better than I ever dreamed it would!

And it shoots fantastic starscapes as well.

Crop questions aside. The camera has made you a happy person. How lucky are you?

I would think he means that he lost the crop factor, so he no longer gets the FOV of a 450mm. That's what he got on the D7200.

I think he was happy and wanted to share that feeling. Instead, he lands in this cess pool.

I loved the comments so far. Ever heard the phrase, "condemnation by faint praise"? None of the DLSR aficianados wants to hear lovesongs about the new Nikon Mirrorless.

What crop factor are you talking about in regards to the Z6?

D7200 has a 1.5 "crop factor," compared to the Z6, which has a crop factor of 1.0 (which means it has a nominal 36x24mm sensor).

I am using D810 and E-M1 and have a good selection of prime and zoom lenses for both. Not finding either of the “problems” that you mentioned.

I had a stroke 2 1/2 years ago, and the little m5 mII has proved to be difficult but not impossible. Be well!

I think I understand traderJohns Response. A little strong perhaps but it is often the case when someone tells Their story here that many seem to feel it mandatory to respond and give their opinion. Rather than to simply accept and congratulate the op on their New toy and/or observation.

That’s pretty much what happened.

It seems to happen that way more often than not
