Had this camera for two months now,
very happy with it apart from getting a
"read error" message, has anyone else had this problem?

How often do you get the error message? Does it occur as soon as you start the camera or when you're in a certain shooting mode? Is the memory card inserted properly? Did you format or reformat it? Has there been a firmware update and did you load it? Does the HS30's manual have troubleshooting info?

Hi, only. Happens when I am reviewing pictures, have re-formatted card several times, will try it again without reloading photos.

Be sure to format in the camera, not in the computer; it is a different algorithm and result. Also, if you rename on the computer, the camera may not read or even recognize the file.
