The only thing I know for sure about Palm Springs Ca. is that you will not have any problem finding a windmill.
That area has the largest concentration of whirley gigs I have ever seen. You could get an interesting photo with the right light

Palm Springs is about an hour west of Joshua Tree NP. It’s an obvious photo destination. The tram up to the top of the mountain will provide a great panoramic view of the area.

If you take the Tram, it will take you up the mountains and you’ll have a view of the entire Coachella Valley. You’ll even be able to see the Salton Sea, which is about 50-60 miles from Palm Springs.

The Salton Sea is also a good place to shoot, along with Joshua Tree National Park.

Also, there’s a place called The Desert Oasis Preserves (I think that’s the name). There’s some walking to do to get to the pond once you park, but there are some really nice photo ops.

That should keep you busy for a bit.

Dalton sea literally stinks. Don’t go there.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Missed the roach formations when I visited Joshua Tree several years ago. There were some intetesting rock formations, though. I think next week might be too early for Joshua trees to be in bloom. Looks like it will be worth a visit for the wildflowers, though: https://www.desertusa.com/wildflo/ca_jtnp.html

If you are into Mid Century Modern Architecture, Palm Springs is the place to be. I am sure you can find a self guided tour booklet or book a bus tour of the city.

The OP seems to have checked out. Perhaps going to FL. If so, my apologies for hijacking thread.

Advice: try again with FL in title, if that was intention.

Areas around the Salton Sea have some interest, though: https://www.visitgreaterpalmsprings.com/blog/post/first-timers-guide-to-visiting-the-salton-sea/?svap=24833&svat=cl&gclid=Cj0KCQiA1sriBRD-ARIsABYdwwF-K6UDp_cZ1dK_iwOWQUY9UV17NyPB9riQaXGDhfJzFLRpNkCosC0aAtcREALw_wcB

May not be smelly this time of year.

It’s always smelly and there’s nothing to photograph.
