I see or read very little info on how to go with a stock company; have heard horror stories so have been cautious; find it strange that there is so little info out here, altho I may be the culprit for not knowing how/where/who to query. Thanks for any advice on this subject.

why not just check out some stock image companies to get an idea of the quality of shot they look for. Try Getty Images - go from there

Both are great....

I have used Shutterstock. Be advised that they have very strict image acceptance criteria and you must submit sample images and pass test re quality and commercial value. If you don't pass the first time, then you must wait 30 days and try again. Good Luck!
