There's enough air leakage out our front door that the temperature is only 10 F this morning but the wind chill is -6 F according to the National Weather Service. The high temp is only forecast to be 24 F. We're very near the northern OK border so this polar vortex is fairly mild. Folks further north should bundle up when going outdoors, or better yet just stay in. I disagree with the BBC photographer, though. IMHO it's never too cold for ice cream. :-}

Our WFAA weatherman informed us last night that the polar vortex itself stays in place around the arctic. It's the cold winds of the polar vortex that have become displaced and are causing this deep freeze.

I think those winds should just blow right back where they came from.

Its so cold my truck can't keep the front seats warm when I'm driving. It was about 48f inside the truck tonite when I stopped
for the night. Volvo 780 semi., with a double
sleeper bunk. In Lansing. Mi, to deliver a load of... cat litter. I guess it's important to the cats. :0)
At least the bunk heater keeps my bed nice and toasty.
