I'll be going to Boca Raton with my wife and was wondering if anyone could recommend places to go and photograph. Thanks in advance.

Mark Smith bird guide book lists a number of places in South Florida:

Morikami is supposed to be nice. I also hear the Palm Beach zoo is quite good. Check the weather/tides to see if a drive up to Jupiter's Blowing Rocks would be worth it.

Just a couple of ideas.

What are you looking for?

We’ll, as a science teacher, you’ll be interested in Gumbo Limbo. They rescue sea turtles. They also have an interesting aquarium and an area for butterflies. Might be breeding time for sea turtles.
On A1A in Boca.
Wakadohatchee(sp?) preserve in Delray Beach.
Check out Loxahachee(so?)

BTW, I’m a retired NYCDOE MS science teacher myself.

I found Morikami disappointing. It is pretty and calm but not interesting. Check the website first because it you may see something there that you want to see.

When you travel to other places, what do you like seeing and doing?

The butterfly garden is small but very relaxing and secluded. A nice variety but you cannot always see many of them. Take a picture of the sign that displays the different types so you can identify them in your pictures. Otherwise, not much more photogenic. However, a place still worth visiting.

I visit two places for birds: Green Cay and Wakodahatchee Wetlands. You will not be disappointed. Check the Cornell bird site for more.

Both my wife and I are photographers. She likes street photography and I like nature, landscape, etc. So any place that we can shoot would be good.

Ouch for your wife. Boca is the land of broad streets, a lot of car, no sidewalks, and no walkers. She will be challenged seriously but I suggest the beaches. Take a long lens and sit patiently shooting the bathers. I do recommend the art museum in downtown Boca, the Flagler museum and lighthouse in Palm Beach. No easy way to get to the Everglades but you can find many other wetlands for landscapes and animals. There is a butterfly museum and runs about $28 per person.

A lot of good Jewish deli food there if you wish. A great indie movie house in Del Ray.

Enjoy your stay there.

For street photography you might like Miami area. Coral Gables. When I lived here, 30 years ago, they used to have a festival with bed races. Quite a few characters were walking around there.
Dunno if they still have that.

River Walk in Fort Lauderdale might be something she’d like. Also some scenery for you there.

OMG.... Wakadohatchee.... it is right there!!! Easy boardwalk access and a ton of all type of nesting birds. It is on Jog Rd. Just north of the Publix. Green cay is about 3 miles west of Wakadohatchee. Both are free. Get there early morning for easy parking and great light. You can link to my recent posts to see results. All of those images were captured with a 300mm lens.

Those are great birding places and if you are lucky, you will see reptiles too. In all due respect, I would take a 600 mm lens if you have one.

Wakodahatchee is excellent. I’ll be there soon myself.
