Thanks Skywolf.

I have the G2 I use on a Nikon D7100 and I love it! I've never had a problem and have taken a number of good shots with it.

Thanks Darren01. That's the key issue: cost benefit analysis. I'm not spending $14K for the 200-400 F4 or $18K for the 800 F5.6 I'm an amateur weekend photographer all the better stuff was bought used for 50 cents on the dollar. So if its good for $1300 that makes it better for $900.

Here goes....for $1300, yes it's worth it. Should I have saved for another six years to get a 600mm Prime for $7000 to 9000ish used? Not gonna happen. For What it is, the lens is not bad. Does better with full frame though. I'm running a Canon 80D and it does well. Has a touch of forward focus at 150, and a little rear focus at 600. I will correct that with the Tap in Console when I have the time. With that being said, for my budget it was a good buy. Your budget may vary. If you can rent or borrow one for a few days you will see that it's kinda like the harbor freight of lenses but a little better! But, not quite like Canon's/Nikons primes/zooms. Not the price neither! Reach costs, costs a lot! Not sure if this helps you in any way, but you have to make the ultimate decision....

Thanks for the advice. I don't use live view much but maybe this will get me doing it. Care to expand on the "Errors" so I can avoid? Was there one change that made a big difference?

I got the best results by stopping down, focusing in live view, going back to viewfinder, mirror lockup, using self timer (2 sec).

BTW - Use fast shutter speeds. All that was for 600mm. At lower focal lengths there is less concern for camera movement. The stability of your tripod will determine how bad movement can be at 600.

Thanks to all that replied. I bought the lens and took it to the park to test it. These are representative of the photos I ended up with, not perfect but not bad for the first attempt.

Enjoy the lens! Great start! Looking forward to taking mine out when the weather gets better. Lots of rain and cloudy days at the moment.
