I would like to embed photographers name in print files. I dont want it obtrusive. Anyone know how to preview size as it looks in multiple print sizes before printing. ie: 8x10 vs 20x30

Adobe Lightroom has a watermark feature that lets you type with font, place, size, and opacity to one or more prints. You can preview in the program.

You just drop it into the picture and size it any size you want and then adjust the opacity to your liking!

Not sure why you would want to do this, but you can simply buy an archival gel rollerball pen and sign the print manually. If you are selling your work an actual signature adds value to the image while the embedded signature does nothing or diminishes the value. I was told this by more than one gallery where I show/sell my work.

make your own brush in the editor and apply to the bottom of your file. easy to do. Turn it into a png file so it is transparent.

I am completely happy using Lightroom Classic for this. Best of luck.

It hugely depends upon the software you're using to work with your images. What works in Lightroom doesn't in Photoshop and vice versa, etc.

A free software called FastStone Photo Resizer can be used (Windows only, I think). But you have to set up the "signature" first in another graphic program (MS Paint or other) and save it as a PNG with a "clear" background. Then you can use FastStone IR to "apply" that to one or more images. When you do that you can decide its position on the image(s), set the transparency, etc. When I used FastStone in the past, I set up several "watermarks" and several "signatures" in different sizes in advance using Photoshop and saved those to a folder. Then I just used them as needed, to add to any images I wished. If interested, it's available to download at: http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm

I used FastStone was when I was working with earlier versions of Lightroom that couldn't add watermarks or signatures. Now with later versions where LR can handle it, I use that instead to save some steps and streamline my workflow. I still set up a graphic first in other programs (a PNG file), but only need one because Lightroom can automatically scale it to fit different sizes of images I might produce.

For printing I always finish my images in Photoshop (Lightroom can only do so much), and that's when I add a small signature. It can be set up in advance, but I usually just type it, size it and adjust color and transparency on an image-by-image basis.

Below is an example of a watermark used for "image protection":

And here's an example of a smaller "signature" much like I use on finished images (I make it smaller and less prominent on prints):

I would think that a watermark appropriate and unabtrusive for 8X10 would be so for 20X30, as well for your monitor. One size fits all ☺

Just prints the Copyright symbol … not sure how that helps, embossing/embedding a signature, Tracey …

Understood, Frank … but you can't imprint the Copyright Symbol on the print as you run it thru the printer!
