Nikon DK-17M magnifying eyepiece. Does anyone have one on their camera?
I'm thinking about getting the Nikon DK-17M magnifying eyepiece for my D500. The reason is because it's much thicker than the standard eyepiece and would create more space between my face and the rear LCD screen. It's magnification is 1.2x. I was wondering if the additional magnification would crop away the information displayed at the bottom of the screen when using the viewfinder.
It did for my Canon eyepiece extender.
I removed the lenses in it...
See if you can try one at a camera shop.
I have the DK-17M on my Df. It makes seeing the entire screen a bit difficult. You have to put your eye close to the eye piece otherwise you can't see the entire screen at once. It helps on manual focusing and extend the range of the diopter adjustment.

I use the Canon version - it was the first thing I did to get my face off the back of the camera - then I made my facial stabilizers. I got sweat into the rear control dial and it quit working - that was the inspiration for me !

Yes. I have a DK-17m on all of my cameras plus the DK-19 rubber eye piece. I recommend this. Unfortunately, it does not fit the Z mirrorless cameras.
Thanks for all of the replies. I think I will go ahead and get one.

Nikon designed this as an aid when using manual focusing.

I have it on my Df too, same reason as you, it help me a little for manual focus when using MF lens, especially on my macro shooting. I move my eye around to catch every edge of the frame view, yes it's a little troublesome, but it helps me to do better manual focusing.
I put one on my D500. After a short period I took it off. It made it harder for me to see the complete view in the frame. Just my experience.

First, thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I was looking for a small item to boost my order to B&H above the threshold for free shipping, so added a Nikon DK-21M Magnifying Eyepiece for my D7500. But I am going to return it because
it obscures the corners and edges of the image, including most of the viewfinder display strip along the bottom, especially the focus indicator at left. The written instructions that came with it mention that (see attachment), but the B&H on-line info does not. Lesson Learned: Search UHH before buying anything!
BTW, the D7500 focus indicator (lower left on the viewfinder display strip) works even when i have the lens switched to MF....how does it know when you have it focussed?
