Thank you George! From what I remember from Jacksonville was having a 35mm for groundshots of aircraft on display, as well as a 135 and 300 with 1.4x and 2x extenders. If you click the URL link for the title above each image, the exact details for the individual images are available from the host Flickr page. Thank you for the interest and glad you enjoyed.

I looked at the Flickr page and saw the details. I wondered if you switched extenders or had multiple lenses set on multiple cameras.
I presume these were taken with the lens mounted on a tripod. The 300 f/2.8 is no light weight. Impressive at 600mm with a 2x extender!
Were you in a "photographers" section or among the crowd?

In the D.C. area when there are shows at the air base or naval base if you don't know someone, you don't get in. This has been my experience.

Really nice set.

Hey George, between the part I and II posts, these images cover two calendar days at NAS JAX, although mostly images from one date are specific to each 'part'. I was in a for-sale seating area at Jacksonville. I walked up and down the available seating areas, some closer to center than others and some including food and drink. Based on experience and best-guess, I chose the section furthest to the left of center that proved to be a good choice for the action over the two days. Everything was handheld with one camera body and a single copy of all equipment. I adjusted extenders / lenses / focal lengths based on experience with each performer. Thank you for your interest and glad you enjoyed.

Very well done, especially hand held.
I do enjoy them.
Just a little jealous...

More great shots! For any northern CA hogs, the Angels have been flying over SF each October for the Bay Area's Fleet Week. There is great viewing either from a boat in the SF Bay or from Alcatraz Island.

Excellent pictures and a your synopsis of their origination is outstanding. I will never cease to be amazed by what they do, how they do it, and the skill it takes. They are in Seattle once a year and it’s so fantastic to be able to see them. Thank you!

Paul thanks for the captures here. Awesome photographs. I would suggest to any hoggers that can do it to go to the Blue Angels airshow in Pensacola Florida on July 4th. They do it every year over Pensacola Beach. It is their premier show of the year and they do it every year there. Pensacola is their home base. Just go set up on the beach. I like to go to practice day on the 3rd as the crowds are smaller and they do their full show run through. Just my two cents! Visit the Naval Air Museum while you are there

I prefer to use a tripod, except in seats at an airshow is not practical. Thanks again, George.

Great tip, thank you kcooke! We have somewhat the same situation along the beach at Lake Michigan in Chicago, although the Blue Angels fly here only every other summer. Have fun!

Thank you Leekland, Don, Tim! for your kind comments and interest! Given all the places they fly each summer, check their website and see if one is near to you.
