Wildlife photographers take what out subjects give us. If they get nervous, that is even more true. I got lucky with this checker spot butterfly photographed at at 5,000 ft.+ in the mountains west of Teton Pass. Life can be tough for wildlife here, especially seemingly fragile creatures like butterflies. This one was a little past the prime of life when photographed in early August. A little tattered around the edges, it is, nonetheless, a thing of beauty.
