Nikkor 29-70 mm1:2.D.
They say there is no stupid question so here goes. I bought the nikkor 29-70mm 1:2.8D to use to get more light into the camera when in the low light arena. What is the best way to use this lens? Would this be called a wide lends? Even though it is heavy lens & I know its a good lens. I feel I could use this lens more than I do. Thanks EJK
I think you meant the 28-70 F2.8 D lens?
This is a very good low light wide to normal film zoom that replaced the 35-70mm F2.8 D zoom lens.
Its a bit on the heavy side but built like a tank and often still sells used for around $1000 in excellent condition. They actually make quite a good wedding lens when paired with a 70-200mm F2.8 on a second body. They are just a bit short for use as a general sports lens, but still work well on a crop sensor that will yield a 42-105mm F2.8 to use at basketball and volleyball type events. Focus is a bit slow on todays cameras but still quite acceptable.
It was short-lived and was replaced in 1999 by the AF-S version, same great optics, but with built-in AF motor for much faster focusing.
your right thanks Shooter
