I am going to Yellowstone park on a tour. I need suggestions for a camera bag, probably a backpack. I need it to hold my DSLR, Sigma 2.8 17-50 & canon 100-400 lens, batteries, memory cards & charger. Possible a jacket. Under seat size would be my first choice, but overhead will do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just bought a swiss gear messanger style. Taking it on vacation. whats nice is it has many compartments, not to bulky. Comfortable to wear. Price range pretty reasonable.

I have this:

A little pricey but well worth the money. Excellent protection, sling or backpack style many comapartments and VERY sturdy. Even has a slot for a laptop.

I recently got a Lowepro Flipside 300. I think it would hold all you want, except probably the jacket. A nice feature of this pack is that the zipper is not exposed to the elements and strangers. It is up against your back. To get into it, you swing it around front, and a belt holds it in place while you open it.

That looks good. You'll never regret having too much room in you camera bags/backpacks.

I'd like to see the cubic inches displayed for all bags and backpacks. They all have moveable dividers, but the total storage area is important. Yes, I know I can multiply h x w x l, but it would be nice to see that number displayed for each bag, like MP for cameras, for a quick comparison.

I use the Lowepro fastpack 350 for that combination ... and I just got back from Yellowstone where that bag was wonderful!!! Camera stuff on the bottom and jacket, water and fruit in the top compartment. Can't say enough good about it! Best, J. Goffe and remember the f/stops here!

Whatever you decide on, order it early enough that you can use it and make sure it's what you need.

I thank you all, you have narrowed my search and made me feel I was on the right track. I have it down to two now. Hope I can find a store where I can see it. Thanks again

You talked me into it! I'm returning my Flipside 300 and getting the one you have. It's much larger, and the CPCI is much lower. That's Cost Per Cubic Inch. Mine cost about $0.098/cu in, while the Fashpack costs about $0.037/cu in. Prices vary wildly, with Amazon being one of the most expensive. I paid $82.99 (free shipping) on ebay.

Good Point DWNJ! The LowePro Fastpack 350 has a flap covering the zippers, I presume for that purpose as well as a rain shield. My best, J. Goffe
