Lol BS story you posted here.

How Socialism K**led Venezuela

The stories and photos that come out of Venezuela these days are heartbreaking. People picking through trash to find food for their families, hospitals lacking the most basic medical supplies, stores with empty shelves, money that has become worthless even if there were something to buy, and lawless gangs beating senseless anyone who dares challenge the tyrannical regime of President Nicolàs Maduro.

One of the most prosperous countries in Latin America has become a violent, destitute nightmare seemingly overnight, as the world looks on in horror.

Marxist academics and pundits have been brazen in their attempts to shift the blame for Venezuela’s downfall away from the socialist regime that has ruled the nation for nearly twenty years. It was just oil prices dropping that destroyed the economy, they claim; or it was corruption; or the classic “it’s not real socialism.”

In Episode 2 of The Deadly Isms video series, Matt Kibbe rips apart these arguments by telling the story of Hugo Chávez, a populist strongman who was explicit in his desire to turn Venezuela into a socialist state. Unable to do so all at once due to Venezuela’s U.S.-inspired constitution, Chávez set about systematically tearing down the checks and balances through raw popular support.

When Chávez nationalized his nation’s massive oil industry and used its proceeds to fund a torrent of unsustainable social spending, it seemed like his promise of a socialist utopia might come true. He was the toast of the Marxist intelligentsia all over the world, with l*****t Hollywood stars and progressive politicians in the United States fawning over the man they claimed had finally proved that socialism was the future.

We all know now how and where that has led, and we owe it to the suffering people of Venezuela to learn from their government’s example that socialism k**ls.

You are so misguided, All you have to do is talk to Venezuelan ex-pats to know how kooky all these left nut wingbats are and the misguided media that continues to feed your delusion.

How many Venezuelan poor did you talk to before it became Socialist, which one can argue it no longer is? Content well fed people do not turn to socialism. People are driven towards it as much as they are pulled towards it. It didn't dawn on me that you would respond. I wish you had put more into your response. You might have written something I would have found interesting to read. It actually seem likely.

I have spent time in Venezuela, and although the poor were still poor as they are everywhere, they were not eating their family pets, and the grocery stores had food and the hospitals had medicine.

I don't think anyone is arguing that it isn't a total mess today, or even that some of the blame doesn't go to Chavez. A lot more of the blame may be internal than the article might indicate, but that doesn't mean it's because of socialism. Mismanagement and corruption are a b***h.

Maduro is nothing but a thug, I have very close friends who loved their lives in Venezuela and who are now here, Chavez was bad, Maduro is worse, he is nothing more than a drug dealer who is robbing the Venezuelan treasury, there exists video of him gunning down protestors during Chavez's reign. He was a bus driver before becoming one of Chavez's henchmen for Christ's sake.

Did you ever come to terms with the fact that Chavez's daughter is the richest woman in Venezuela? At least she was upon his death, socialism never works, it is not in human nature on a number of levels.

You do know that the party elites in Venezuela move drugs all over the world, don't you?

I think that "Maduro is just a thug" is common knowledge. There is no indication he cares about socialism at all. He is much more to blame for Venezuela's fate than socialism is.

Thom, you just don't get it, socialism simply does not work especially in a country as large and as diverse as ours.....

Hey Thom, I just looked it up, Hugo Chavez's daughter is worth $4.2 billion, and that my friend is how socialism works while the rest of the country suffers.
