Hi This isn't a great picture by any means but the technique may be of interest, exposure was natural light with a 2 second delay.

I have an andoer 666 travel tripod with a reversible centre column normally it has a hook at the bottom but i changed it so i had a 1/4 male to which i attached a field monitor the centre column was reversed with the ball head at the bottom, rather than invert the camera. I made a little rig at the top was a 200mm nodal rail which has 2 arca swiss grooves using the top groove i was able to slide it into the ball head plate rightside up for me but upside down for the ball head at one end i used 3 light stand adapters they are basically the same as any light stand top but with a 1/4 screw one end and a 3/8th at the other this made a handy column to which i attached a flash bracket plate designed to mount a flash next to the camera the camera was mounted to this plate making a C shaped rig to cradle the camera.

With the hdmi out from the camera going to the hdmi of the field monitor i was able to compose the image with the camera about 2 inches from the ground with the field monitor at a comfortable height. I didn't use a cable release for this just a 2 second delay.

Jerry, The strap secures the sole to the upper so the sole won’t go flying off the boot when you’re cruising down the road at 80+ mph on your bike.

That's the theory but these days there isn't the proper construction in a lot of cases with the upper being stuck to the sole rather than stitched. My local cobbler reckons there is nothing worth buying below about $80 and I believe him. He also recommends keeping away from too much heat if you need to dry them out, The glue gets softened by the heat weakens the join and you can end up with the upper and sole separating and don't be lazy pushing boots off by pressing at the sole also puts a lot more load on the joint than designed (essentially the glue mostly has to handle the weight of the sole but your pushing will put a much higher load on the joint.

I think most boots and shoes switched to glue around the 80's, this one is not cheap to buy but the construction is junk.

Nice shot. Articulated screens are also helpful. On my D7200 I have used Helicon Remote and my Android tablet works fine but in bright light it is difficult as is the live view screen.

With respect, are you joking or are you serious. The strap going down attaches above the sole. How could it possibly keep the sole attached at 80 mph IF that was ever a problem. I have ridden bikes for years and never once had a sole even think of coming off my boot/shoe. For most of us our foot in the boot and boot on the peg is more than enough to work just fine.

Not that this is related to the image or the technique, but I note that the heel is not flat on the ground as it sits. I had a pair of boots that were killing my feet. I thought maybe the shanks were not installed correctly, and exchanged them. But after the replacements had the same result, I noticed the same heel issue as in the photo. After seeing that my other boots had heels that were in-plane with the sole, I ground them flat, and it solved the issue!
