I'll be in the Sunset Beach, NC area for a week in September and would like suggestions in a couple of areas. First, does anyone have advice on exceptionally scenic areas in that locale for dune formations etc. (any areas of the island you found particularly photogenic).
Secondly, and more technical; Last week there was a post regarding protecting DSLR lenses and cameras from salt air and spray. I'll be using a Toyo 4X5 view/field camera. Any creative suggestions out there? Thanks for all your input and inspiration UHH'ers!
I have a house at SB on the ocean and have photographed the area for years. There are taller than the average beach dunes but it it all about angle and shadows. The west end of the island at sunset renders what, "a great sunset, hence the name". Walk to the ends of the island for beautiful inlet shots, especially in the morning and at dusk. Use your creativity and shoot in different perspectives and angles. A telephoto is great as would be expected. There is an abundance of birds, deer, wild goats and flora. It might not jump out and hit the end of your lens, as you will have to look for it. Oh yeah, walk to the top of the new bridge over the intercoastal at am or pm and you can't imagine what the camera will let you take home with you!!.
Enjoy the best beach on the Carolina Coast!!!!
I forgot to do my marketing. Are you looking for a place to rent?? If you are at this late date, we can talk by phone or private email.
Let me know.

A camel to pack around the 4x5 over the dunes might come in handy.
