Whats the best place for portrait prints to get printed.
Thank you to all you who helped me with finding a profesional lab to get my images print.
If I use Millers lab or Jd Photo Imaging Lab, do I still need to buy a calibration program? I already sent my images in to both places to be tested, but I'm not sure what comes next! CAN'T WAIT TO GET THEM BACK!
Will I still be able to use my editing programs I have, or is it best to take pictures and let them correct the color and lighting?
I really enjoy editing the photos myself. But I want whatever will make my images look there best.
When you get your prints back, compare them with what you see on your screen. You probably will still have to calibrate and then compare your test images with your screen, again. Remember, it doesn't matter how great they look on your monitor, what matters is how they look coming back from the lab. Good luck and let us know how the test prints turned out.
If you have a Costco near you they do good work and turn out quality prints
If you have a Wolf/Ritz and finding one might be a problem with their new bankruptcy filing they do good work.
If you want quality then MPIX is your best bet. I use them to fulfill my printing options on Zenfolio. The provide excellent prints in a variety of paper choices and their customer service is great.
Who you use depends on how quickly you need your prints returned will govern your print options.
Calibrating your monitor is very helpful, but your results shouldn't be TOO off without it.
I use
APS and they color correct all my prints/proof. They're a pro lab so you'll have to get approved.
I also use Mpix.com I've had nothing but good to say about them. I never print anything off of my home printer for someone else that I've done work for. I want it to be the best of the best so I send them to Mpix.
One of the BEST portrait printers in the nation is ACI (American Color Imaging) in Cedar Falls IA
