As a fellow Michigander, if you have never enjoyed this journey, I would highly recommend this trip to Mackinaw Island, take a Horse drawn Carriage tour, rent Bikes, eat Fudge, spend a night or two,$$$.

I've been there several times and done the whole thing. I've spent three nights at the Grand Hotel on three different trips. Once on our Honeymoon and twice with out of town guests. It seems pricey when you book, but you're glad you did when you leave. A step back in time in a truly elegant place.
