What is the best way to clean the glass on your lens. I use the micro clothe from the eye glass place, sometimes I will try steam from my breath and some times lens cleaner dropped on the cloth and then rubbed on the lens. There is always a film left on the surface. I wonder about those paper sheets you used to find for eye glasses. Help

I use a lens pen (which I purchased at Walmart). I also have a lens cloth. I just found out though that you have to hand wash that by itself, so it does't get lint all over it!
The lens cloth you spoke of might have something as simple as oil from your hands causing the smuge i hand wash mine when it doesnt wipe clean. One drop of Dawn in a gallon of warm water lasts a long time.Just wring it out and let it air dry.

Thanks for the info on the lens cloth!

A very popular product is Zeiss Lens Cleaning Wipes. I read about them here and bought a large box. I also use the Giotto Lens Rocket.
I have often read that it is not good to breathe on the lens. There is stuff in your breath that can damage the coating.

Here is something I found on the Nikon site.
Do NOT breathe on your lenses.
Below is straight from Nikon's website.

How do I clean the camera lens?
The best way to clean a lens is to use a piece of lint free lens cleaning tissue and a small amount of Lens Cleaning solution. Do not use anything containing abrasives or solvents, only use Lens Cleaning Solution.
First we recommend taking a small blower brush to blow off or brush away loose dust or debris.
Next, place a drop or two of cleaner on the tissue (never directly onto the lens) and then wipe the lens in a circular motion, beginning in the center and working your way outward, removing any marks or smear.
If the above supplies are not available a clean, dry, soft, lint free cloth can be used to clean the lens. Do not breathe on the lens to fog it for cleaning. There are harmful acids in breath that can damage lens coatings. Just use the blower bulb, then brush, and wipe the lens in a circular spiral from the center outward.
The same method can be used to clean the viewfinder eyepiece of Nikon cameras.
Thanks for the advice. I looked for a pen today, but they didn't have them at the grocery store. I hand washed my cloth today and made sure I rinsed them well.
Thank you. That is good advice. I was not sure about blowing on the lens. Do you think the pre-moisten eye glass cleaners are safe. They list camera lens as a use besides glasses.

Lens Pen & one of those bulbs that emit a puff of air. Some also suck. I start with the air puffs and then finish with the lens pen
Camel Hair Brush, Rubber bulb air puffer, Kimwipes, Kodak Lens Cleaning Solution... This stuff will get it clean.
Using the mist (fog moisture) from your hot breath works very well for all non oily cleaning jobs, and is recommended by Pentax.
