Can you describe how you lit it, and what you used to produce the smoke?

How about I show you?

It also seems that in many of the shots the smoke from the incense, is "drawn" to the light (photo studio lights), creating a mystery of movement. This is done in Raw mode and has not been processed out aside from a small crop.

I’m not into this creative work but it is probably one of the best photos I have observed. Congratulations.

While working with smoke in graduate school I observed the same effect where the smoke was drawn to the light fixture. It became apparent that the 'smoke' had things in it that would become deposited on the lap surface. In the end I was compelled to place a sheet of simple glass over the light and so could clean the flat glass surface.

One other point was keeping the air dead still, but if a sudden movement of a shard of card stock was activated just below the smoke then the column would suddenly stop for a split instant and then return to its climb.

In capturing this smoke I tried to stay still and let the smoke create its own drama...Sometimes though it would just flow up so gentle and soothing in a way...I am still trying to figure out the best way to incorporate my signature watermark though...

that is cool and creative and beautiful.
