Uh...because it was an attention-grabbing stunt that is really pretty irrelevant? And by the way, no one is arguing against border security. Hard to blame the dems when the Republicans had it all for two years and could have passed anything they wanted - if THEY had agreed on it!

Actually wrong (again) sb......you guys keep forgetting the pesky little fact that the GOP needed several Dem v**es to pass anything in the senate (unlike Obama’s first two years, when beginning in April, 2009 HE could have passed anything he promised, like immigration reform, and didn’t).
